I was born and grew up in Snowdonia, a beautiful corner of North Wales, which explains the traditional Welsh name!  Among my earliest childhood memories are those of baking cakes; I still have my first cook book from way back then.

My love of food was passed on from my mother who was a ‘foodie’, long before the term was coined, and that is why it’s essential that my cakes taste fantastic – I’m always looking for new and exciting flavours and all my recipes have been repeatedly tried and tested.

I made my first wedding cake 15 years ago but it was only in 2009, when considering going back to work after having a family that I decided to set up my own business.

I am passionate about creating original wedding cakes and am often sketching my ideas, which is why I have a gallery featuring my own designs where I feel I can let my creative flair run free.  I have always had an interest in art and crafts, interior design and architecture and I often draw on these for inspiration.  Colour, texture, pattern and proportion all play a large part in the creative process and the hugely popular ‘vintage’ look is the stimulus for some of my most recent creations.

Alternatively, I can craft something totally unique just for you.  I believe that the process of creating a bespoke wedding cake should involve a fun and creative collaboration. Whether the cake is traditional or contemporary, each wedding cake is sketched and the design is perfected to ensure I make the wedding cake of your dreams.

I really believe that the devil is in the detail, so look out for the little trade mark butterfly fastening the ribbon on the back of an Angharad Llywelyn wedding cake!

I’m a member of the British Sugarcraft Guild, and although I embrace all the modern methods I’m an old-fashioned girl at heart.  I love using traditional royal icing; it was a dying art but is thankfully making a comeback.  Nearly all my designs include some hand-piped royal icing as it adds a level of detail and intricacy that you can’t obtain any other way.

Wedding cakes have moved on so much in the last 10 years, these days just about anything is possible, your imagination is the only limit!
